UPDATE 2/16/05 - I have been terrible negligent about keeping you up to date on
> Radar.
> He has become an absolute love - I can't believe he has been with me over
> a
> year. Everyone adores him, and he has gotten over his problem with my
> daughter's boxer. I think it was too much testosterone - theirs has been
> neutered about a year now. He has always been great with my son's female
> boxer.
> I took him on a home check this weekend to a house with 3 children, 5
> and under, and he was in heaven. They played with him and fed him dog
> cookies - he didn't want to leave.
11/22/03 Radar has been adopted.
11/16/03 Radar is doing just great here. He is such a wonderful and sweet Boxer boy,
we are getting such a kick out of him! Radar LOVES to talk...he wll sit down next to
you and just talk away, has whole conversations! It's very funny. He also loves snuggling
with you and giving hugs.
His hips do not appear to bother him much at all, just sometimes when he's been playing
to hard. He loves to play with my female, he boxes and bows and plays chewy face with
her like any typical boxer.
Radar has the softest fur! It's silky and longish and wonderful to touch! He is very
handsome!!
11/7/03 GOOD NEWS! Our orthopedist took more X-rays and evaluated Radar hips,
and although he does dyplasia, he does not need surgery. Radar is NOT in regular pain
and is very athletic. He can actually jump over a fence, which he did, and why we think
he was so sore last week! His dysplasia is better managed through regular exercise and
weight control. Here is a good link about canine hip dysplasia:

Radar is a wonderfully sweet dog, he loves to cuddle and snuggle, he seems very good
outside his crate as well as inside. He did see our cat and was not really interested. He
talks to me with funny, quiet little snorty sounds. He is really adorable! Some family is
going to be very lucky!
10/31/03 I have been so bad about updating I'm really sorry. Radar went to the vets last
week. He was neutered and brought up to date on all his shots. Radar was heartworm
negative and recieved a microchip. Radar did have some bad news. He had been limping
on his back leg. We had Dr. Matt check it out, after X-rays it was determined that he
has hip dysplasia. We are hoping that Radar will have his surgery soon and be on the
road to recovery. Radar also has advanced glaucoma. Unfortunately there is nothing we
can do for this. Radar can see well but doesn't do as well at night. He adjusts quickly
and has no problems at all. Radar is a true special needs dog. He is what rescue is all
about. Only a very special home deserves the love of this beautiful dog. Watch for
updates on him. If you would like to help Radar get his surgery. Please send donations to

10/23/03 Radar went to see Dr. Matt yesterday and he was such a good boy. He
weighed in at 64 pounds. Radar loved everyone in the office but was a little nervous.
Radars eyes look like he has damage to his lens. He does see but we are not sure how
well. The Dr. was going to get a better look when he was sleeping. Radar got neutered,
Microchiped and had a rabies shot. Hopefully now he will be ready for his forever home.
Radar is great with the other 7 dogs here. No issues at all. He really likes the kids as
well. Radar does well in his crate and seems to be housebroken. This boy is truely
beautiful both inside and out and deserves a wonderful home.
10/19/03 - Radar has arrived this afternoon. He was a stray to a shelter we work with
& no one claimed him. He is about 4 years old, natural ears & docked tail. He has
some vision problems--the shelter said he had Glaucoma, we will have our vet check too
when he goes in this week to be neutered. Radar is very sweet to everyone he meets so
far & has the softest fur! He is much more handsome than his pictures even. Watch for
more updates soon on this sweet boy!
