8/16/03 Oscar has been adopted.

7/10/03 - Oscar is such a sweet little
guy that is winning the heart of everyone that meets him!  He is now part of
my "pack" & gets along wonderfully with my 2 dogs.  He would like to play
with them more than they do (they are not too playful with the foster dogs)
but he accepts just stepping back & just enjoys being with them.  I have
learned a lot about Oscar's anxiety issues & figured out that he really is
comforted with another dog (or more) around him & people with him too.  He
is not happy being left away from people so he definitely needs a home with
people around most of the time or that want to bring him with them & let him
sleep in their room too.  Oscar is housetrained but if he is left out of
things he can have an accident sometimes out of anxiety.  He is so wonderful
though I just love having him with me everywhere & I know his new home will
feel the same.  He gives you the sweetest look that just makes you melt &
let him come along.  He sleeps on the bed now & seems so happy &
comfortable.  When I use to crate him at night or leave him alone in the
livingroom, he would have an accident--poor little guy was lonely & he just
wanted to be with me.  How could I say no?  :)

Oscar LOVES kids of all ages & would be fine with some extra buddies to play
with.  Oscar can be very playful & full of energy, but he also easily calms
down & settles down really quickly when told to.  I took him to the boxer
picnic we had on the 4th of July & there were lots of dogs, people & kids &
he was one of the best behaved dogs there!  People kept asking me if I had a
long talk with him before we got there & had told him to behave as they just
could not believe he was so good.  I said no, that was just this Oscar being
the great boy he is! :)

Oscar has definitely got me by my soft spot & if he did not need someone
home more I would adopt him in a second!  So, if you are looking for a great
boxer that listens well, LOVES his family unconditionally & craves
affection, is a nice smaller size & SUPER CUTE, then get your application in
for Oscar right away as he is waiting for you!

6/26/03 - Oscar moved to my house about 10 days ago for fostering & he is
doing GREAT!  He is such a tiny guy, I thought he was going to be a big boy.
Oscar is so cute & I love his expressions he can make with his face.  He
loves going for car rides & insists on stretching out in the back seat &
making a comfy nest out of the blanket laying on the seat.  The funny thing
is riding in the car puts Oscar to sleep almost instantly every time so you
end up with a silent passenger! :)

Oscar went with me to a BRAD (Boxer Rescue Awareness Day) we had last
Saturday outside a local vet office & he met all kinds of people & dogs &
kids & loved everyone!  He was soooo gentle with the kids too (2 years to 11
years) as if he knew just how he had to be good around children.  I was
amazed of all the gentle kisses he was giving the kids & how he instantly
calmed down around them.  I have not seen any issues with him around kids &
he loves them so much I would say he is going to be fine with all ages.

After the BRAD several of us went over to another foster home's house to let
him run some of his energy off in their large fenced yard.  Oscar thought he
was in heaven as he ran around & found his favorite toy--a jolly ball.  The
ball was tied to a rope on a pole & Oscar loved running at it like a madman,
bumping it with his nose so it would swing around the pole & he would then
jump several FEET in the air trying to catch it!  This is one of Oscar's
requests for his new home: Jolly Balls of all sizes, tennis balls good too!
He will play for hours with a ball either by himself or with you & he is
great at letting you have it to throw again for him.  Oscar will sit with
his bottom lip quivering & his body will start to vibrate in anticipation
for you to throw the ball, but he won't move until you throw it.

Oscar has had obedience classes before (will still need with new family as
part of adoption contract) & seems to be great with sit, stay & down.  He is
also good at "leave it" or "wait" when you put something in front of him &
make him wait until you say "okay".   He is a puller on the leash though &
needs some work on that.

Oscar has fit in with my dogs now, but has not really tried to play with
them too much yet.  He does have a dominant personality with other dogs so
he would do best in a home with either a submissive dog or he would be happy
even as an only dog.  Oscar does not like the 3 resident cats & does try to
hurt them, so he will need a home without cats.  Oscar will go right in his
crate when it's time, but he does have some seperation anxiety about being
in there & left that it would be best if he did not have to use it much in
his new home.  He really needs a home with someone that either works only
part-time or is home most of the time.  Oscar has so much energy & LOVES to
be with his family that he needs more attention or to at least know he can
be "near" you even, but not in his crate.

You had better hurry & jump up & say "pick me! pick me!" for Oscar soon as
this little bundle of energy & love is not going to be around long now that
we know what he wants for his new home!  He is too good of a catch to miss
out on.

6/11/03 Oscar has been here a couple of days and we are getting to know eachother.
Oscar seems like he was allowed to run wild. He is full of energy and love but really
needs someone to work with him on obedience. Oscar is cratetrained, and
housebroken. He is great in the car and just as sweet as can be. He loves to eat and
definitely needs to put on some weight. We will fatten him up here in no time. Stay
tuned as we get to know him  better.

6/7/03 - Oscar has come back into rescue after over a year in his last home.  Turns
out as Oscar matured into an adult, his wildness & some dominance was too much for
his family to handle anymore.  Watch for updates & new pictures soon from his foster
home.
