8/2/03 8/1/03 Great news for Maddie!! With the help of a local All Breed Rescue, Maddie is
on her way to the better life she so truly deserves. And with no large dogs to fear!! Yeah,
Maddie!

7/25 Well Maddie is now the only guest at the Inn, Duchess has gone to her forever home
today. Some research and discussion with fellow dog lovers has led us to the conclusion that
Maddie’s “other parent was probably a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Maddie has a
very sweet personality, and is so very willing to please. She is a tad over submissive, but
confidence building exercises should help. She loves to play with all the dog toys left on the
floor for her (and assumes that anything left out in the middle of the living room is a dog toy,
unfortunately for my son, who now only has one sneaker). She just loves being outside where
she can run and run and run. She comes when called and sits nicely for treats. She adores
children and goes crazy when she sees my sons. For a young boxer she is fairly laid back
about being left to entertain herself and/or in her crate, no anxiety at all. She does have to
spend a little more time than the average guest “in her room as she has some very
strong issues with the other dogs here. She appears to get along fairly well with small dogs, but
shows intense fear aggression toward large dogs. She has gotten to the point where she is ok
if they walk past her crate or she sees them thru a baby gate, but she is unable to handle them
in the same room with no barriers. It looks as if our Maddie will be best suited as an only
child. If you are looking for a “unique boxer girl willing to make you the center of her
universe and you would could make her your one and only, this is a match made in heaven

7/20 Maddie arrived safe and sound at the Inn & out Inn this afternoon. She is a very friendly
girl, who has kisses for everyone and greets "all and sundry" with a ton of wagging and
wiggling. She is very toy enthusiastic and within 4 minutes of being in the house was on the dog
bed chewing away! (see photo). Maddie has been moved around a bit and just spent some
time in a kennel, so, we are going very slow with introductions to “the boys and our
other foster Duchess. So far everyone has been within a few feet of Maddie’s crate and
then we all lay down and took a nap in the same room (mom has been busy haying this week,
and needed the rest! Lol) As long as everyone has basically been ignored her, she has been
fine. She only reacts when the others show too much attention to me, then she barks and
slams around the crate a bit. Talk about bonding to her foster mom in record time! She didnâ
€™t like it too much when Toby showed interest in one of the bones that Maddie brought
with her, so we will be watching her closely for toy aggression. Right now she is out on the
cable having a run and “grazing. She appears only very mildly stressed by the
transition, nothing major. She really, really likes kids, at least my two teen boys. She goes over
the moon every time they walk into the room, beating the crate like a drum, with her long tail.
More on Maddie’s adventures on the farm to come.

7/13/03 I had the pleasure of spending a few days with Miss Maddie, the missing MoTown
"5th Top"!
Maddie is a very affectionate girl, she loves to lick and kiss.  She has the softest fur around
and she also is a big full figured girl. Maddie is still young and has a tendancy to jump up on
people, but with a firm SIT, she immediately does. Therefore, she probably wouldn't do well
with small children.  She seems to be a smart girl who's only goal in life is to love her people,
be loved and have a family.  She seems to be a dog that would do very well with motivational
training with treats.  She will definately need a firm handler, alot of direction and obedience
training.  With some time and alittle effort, Maddie will make a true faithful companion. I know
she's not a "full bred" Boxer, but she has all the wonderful boxer traits and is a VERY nice
dog. Out in the yard, this girl is a playing machine.  She runs full bore towards a toy on the
grass, overruns it while either picking it up or stepping on it so it goes flying. She then does
pick it up, throughs it around again and runs full spead ahead away and then the whole
process starts again.  She would also be a funtime companion for a big strong active person!
Take a chance on Miss Maddie, you won't be sorry!

6/6/03 - Unfortunately Maddie has come back into rescue.  Her new family had too much
going on in their life right now to concentrate on the adjustment period & training of a new
dog. More updates soon from her foster home.

5/25/03 - Maddie was adopted!

4/17/03-If you're looking for a very playful girl, Maddie is the one for you!  She is filling out
quite nicely with lots of good dog food and loves to play. When she's tied out on the runner
she run and runs in circles, she needs a large yard to run in and someone to throw balls to her!
She walks very well on the leash now and loves her walks. She and the Cairn play all the time,
she is very gentle with her. It's probably too late for the Easter Bunny to bring you a basketful
of Maddie for Easter, but keep her in mind for you!

4/01/03-This is Maddie, I had so much fun last night,I pulled an April fool joke on my foster
parents. The little dog they call Katie snuck in to see me in the kitchen and we were having a
great time playing...Mom came to see what all the noise was and said "well look at that", guess
we fooled her with all the growling and barking through the crate! I think we're going to be
having a great time now!

My Mom says that my bark is so deep that she would think that I was a boy doggie if she
didn't know better, who said boy dogs could only bark like that? I only bark when I think
someone is coming to rob their house or when I hear thunder so it shouldn't be a problem. I
wish it would stop raining and snowing as I would like to go for another walk, I promised my
Mom that I wouldn't pull and hurt her arm anymore if only I could go for a walk, she'll see, I'm
getting much better. Wouldn't you like to walk me?

3/21/03:Maddie is just the sweetest girl, she is so gentle in spite of her size. She is NOT a
counter surfer at all and doesn't even beg. The dog toys are her favorite things, she plays with
them constantly and hasn't even touched anything that isn't for dogs! We're working on the
housebreaking, it's coming along but she doesn't ask to go out yet. Maddie's back dewclaws
are quite large, I asked the Vet Tech if they could be removed and she said that it is very
possible, they must be kept trimmed in the meantime. She is waiting for that "Special Family" to
adopt her!

3/15/03 - Maddie is a quite large fawn/white mix. Intact ears and tail. She is getting much
better walking on the leash which is quite necessary as she is very strong. She goes in the crate
with a little coaxing but I expect that will get better, once in, there isn't a peep out of her. She
slept all night without a sound. The kitty and her are getting along very good, no chasing. The
Cairn Terror is another story, as the Cairn is a little afraid of her size, she puts up the terrior
front and sounds quite fierce along with running around. I think Maddie would like to play with
her but we're not going to rush it.
