UPDATED 1/25/04 - Liesl has been doing wonderful, she has bonded with our 12-year-old
small dog. The girls as we call them chase and play together. She is a big love bug, everyone
she meets falls in love with her. Liesl had her first vacation last week we took the family to
New York to visit Nunie (grammy) she did wonderful on the ride. Liesl was very well behaved
at the two hotels we stayed at coming and going to NY. In the van she curled up next to her
skin sister and slept with her head on her lap for most of the ride. We stop every few hours for
a potty break. She loved all of the special treats at Nunies house and the fenced yard to run
and play. No matter where we are her favorite time is bedtime when she curls up in the bed
with us. Liesl has her first obedience class on Tuesday night. We have been working with her
already…she sits and will give her paw.

UPDATED 1/5/04 - Liesl has been adopted!
12/3/03 Liesl is ready for her new home...she was spayed this morning and her fecal check
showed no unwelcome parasites,....she continues to be sweet and loving although a bit shy...
this little puppy girl is just adorable...she is 100% housetrained and crate trained, she prefers
the open wire crate and has taken over Brody's...he has been vanquished to a vari -kennel for
the length of her stay,...he doesn't seem to mind much,...she is so cute that she gets away with
it!! She's ready to go home for the holidays....She'd look wonderful under your Christmas
Tree!!!
11/28/03- Liesl went to the vets today and he doesn't put her age at more than a year! We
have a Tuesday appointment to have her spayed and fecal check.(she wouldn't co-operate
today!) She is still in isolation here because of her kennel cough,.for which she is taking
Robitussin. a couple more days and we can allow her upstairs. Our permanant furkids have all
had bordatella vaccines, however, our little Shitzu girl has been ill for quite a few weeks and
we are not taking any chances on her getting kennel cough while her immune system is
weakened...so in the downstairs pen poor Liesl must stay...it's not too rough...she has plenty of
blankets, food, water, toys, a radio playing soft music for relaxation, a walk every couple of
hours and I take her in the car with me for company while doing errands...
Liesl is a very little girl, she is fearful of loud voices and cowers when reached for...It took me
quite a few attempts to get her to cuddle...I don't think she has had too much of that. Once on
my lap, she wanted to stay and gives the sweetest gentle little kisses. Her hair is fairly long so
she was probably kept as an outdoor dog. She needs to put on about 4 to 5 lbs to be at a
healthy weight. Right now her ribs and hip bones are very prominant....She should be thru the
cough and recuperated from her surgery by next week-end and ready to go....she's pretty,
smart, young and sweet, what more could anyone want? Get those applications in for this little
cutie-patootie!!!
11/26/03- Meet Liesl, the name means dedicated and gracious and is of German origin. She is
actually named after the littlest girl in the musical "Sound of Music". Liesl is very tiny, about 45
lbs, just a guess at this point in time. Liesl came from a wonderful shelter in southern Maine,
where she was brought in as a stray She is a beauty, flashy fawn and well built although very
tiny and skinny...natural ears and docked tail. I would guess her age to be under two years old.
She will make a visit to Dr. Steve on Friday to bring her up to date and tested for Heartworm
and Lyme. Liesl also is suffering a case of kennel cough and will need to have a little
recuperation time before being placed. She also had a case of hives upon arrival and has taken
a dose of benedryl. She has been thru a lot of big changes today, so the hives are not really
surprising. More to come on this adorable little girl!
11/26/03 Our new little one has arrived, thanks to Janice, who picked her up at the AWS in
southern Maine. She unfortunately has a very severe case of kennel cough!..Can anyone tell
me if Robitussin will work on kennel cough ? And also if it will, is it safe to use with Benedryl
which I just gave her for hives? Poor little girl sounds awful!! I know it sounds lots worse than
it actually is,.....but just the cough alone will keep her up all night! Pictures and name
announcement coming up soon...she's a real beauty!!! And sweet and very young!!!
