10/19/03 Joe has been adopted.

10/12/03 - Joe Boxer was surrendered back to rescue as his new Mom decided she just
did not have enough time to have a dog with everything else & another baby on the way.
Joe's Dad said what a wonderful boy he is & how he's sad to see Joe go.  Poor Joe has had
a lot of changes in his life & too many homes already.  Are you the permanent home that
Joe has been looking for?  Joe is ready & waiting for you if you are!

9/16/03 - Joe is doing wonderful!!  He is such a sweet guy, no issues at all here.  He met
the dogs last night & did fine with them.  He is very submissive to people, the dogs & the
cats--he just wants everyone to love him.  Joe did great in his crate the first night, only a few
wimpers from him about it & he fell asleep--no noise until time to get up the next morning.
Joe likes to be with you & touching you--right now his is laying ON my foot! LOL  So far
he is a very gentle boy though--you say "ouch" if he steps on you wrong & you would think
he was just scolded, he gets so sad about it & tries kissing you to make it better.  This is
one great dog--nothing bad to say at all.  Joe will make a great companion for anyone &
anywhere, just watch those fenced areas as he's a fence jumper/climber! :)
9/14/03 - Joe the boxer has arrived thanks to the transport team of Ann, Terry, Sarah &
Joe K.  Joe is a nice 22 month old reverse brindle boy with cropped ears & a docked tail.
His last owner got Joe about 7 months ago from a local Animal Control officer, who got Joe
from the prior owner.  She decided it would be best to give Joe to rescue so he could find a
home where he could get more attention then she could give him at this time.  Joe lived &
got along with 2 rottweilers & a 12 pound poodle in his last home.  He liked playing with the
rotties & the 12 year old child in the home all day during the summer when there was
someone home more.  Joe has also been around her neices & nephews that are under 4
years old & he was perfectly fine.  His owner did say Joe is a fence jumper though-that will
mean he cannot be left out unsupervised in a fenced yard & will either need to be on a
runner or leashed when outside.

Joe is a sweet boy but a little nervous about all the changes in a short time.  When Joe
walked into my house tonight he met my resident "king cat" almost immediately.  After
getting smacked in the face twice with super sharp claws, Joe decided he is VERY afraid of
all 3 cats in the house now!  Out of the countless number of foster boxers I have had at my
house, I have yet to ever have had one that was scared of my cats.  The poor guy, Joe was
wimpering & crying & tried to crawl up the back of the couch the next time the cats walked
in the room.  Needless to say, I think he's going to be safe with the cats, just need to make
sure he can get over the fear of them & be in the same room with them without crying! LOL
Please watch for pictures & more updates soon as Joe settles in.
