UPDATED 11/1/03 - Jackson is a sweetie. That says it all. He is very happy to be here
and we are really happy to have him. He is now 17 weeks and 31 or 32 pounds. He's
already outgrown one collar! He's good in his crate, and in the house--under supervision
of course. He has learned "sit" and we are working on "come",
"lay down" and "stay". He walks on the leash politely, except when the kids are running
aroound, then I'd better start running too! We are slowly working on "heell"! As he gets
bigger, this is a must! The biggest
adjustment for us has been his size. We had Japaneese Chins in the past, so having a dog
who can reach the waffles on the table has been interesting. My children (ages 5-1/2,
3-1/2 and 2) are learning to pick up after
themselves--they can't leave their clothes/toys around--I love that! We've lost 2 socks
(not matching of course!) 2 books and some cooked chicken cutlets to the learning
curve! Obedience training will be good for us. I'm taking my 5 year old with me--it will
be good for him to learn too. Jackson is jumping and nipping less. He is terrific with my
kids--they hug him and kiss him and tell him things--my 2 year old told him yesterday that
she pooped on the potty! He meets the bus with us and goes to drop-off at
PreSchool--where he is very popular. When he gets a little older we may bring him in for
show and tell. My 3 year old brougt in pictures and a chew toy already for show and tell.
Jackson likes his toys--especially the stuffed animals. Unfortunately, those chew through
the fastest, so we have had to get some new ones. He has a "girlfriend" next door. Our
neighbors have a Weimeraner (sp?) who is about a month older, they play daily--it's
great. Thanks again for sending this sweetie to us.
9/27/03 Jackson has been adopted.
Hi All it's me Jackson...........shhhh don't tell mom I snuck onto her computer. I will be in
BIG trouble. With the help of my foster brothers (my spelling isn't so good yet) I would
love to tell you a little about myself.
I am cute as can be (that's what my foster mom says anyway), I try my best to go potty
outside......but sometimes when nature calls I have to "answer" right away and I just don't
have time to make it outside. Mom says I am doing wonderfully though. I get praised
ALOT everytime I go outside, I feel like I am the best pup in the world when mom tells
me I did good.
I love to play with the other dogs and chew on some toys. Mom has a big basket of toys
to keep me busy and I am very good at not chewing anything that I am not supposed to. I
LOVE to eat, mealtimes are my favorite time of the day. I also get a few treats here and
there when I do something good.
I really like it here, but there are 2 things I still need and they are VERY important
because my life isn't quite complete with out them: The first is my very own forever family,
my foster brothers and sister promise me that there is some special family out there
looking just for ME!! I feel so special but I haven't managed to find them yet, if you can
help me find my forever family please let mom know ASAP.
The second thing I need is my own fleece SCOOBY DOO Blanket. I get to borrow
one from the little kid who lives here, but I would really like my own. I lay on the couch
and take my nap and mom covers me with the Scooby blanket........I drift away into
dream land. Mom says I am so comfortable she can here me snore form the next room.
She really needs to get some pictures of me with my favorite blanket!
If you think you can help me find my family or a scooby fleece please let me know!
Patiently waiting for my forever home, Action Jackson
9/21/03 His name is Action Jackson and he is the newest member of SCBR. He's a little
brindle boy with a docked tail and natural ears. He is very much a typical young pupster
who likes to chew, chew, chew then chew some more, play with the other dogs then settle
down for a nap. Housebreaking is coming along fine and with CONSISTENCY (no
slacking in this dept. or any puppy will have accidents) he is doing wonderfully! He is
getting into the rountine here and is doing fairly well. He is not fond of his crate in the least
bit and cries/barks when he is put in... Jack also keeps up the crying for quite awhile to
see if we will give up and let him out. After 10-15 minutes he gives up, I am sure we will
see much progress with his crate training in the coming week. He is a smart little pup with
a ferocious appetite. I think Jackson would eat until he exploded if allowed. Jack is going
to the vet this week for a check up, but is way too young to be neutered so he will be
adopted with a spay/neuter contract (which requires a deposit). He will need to be
altered at 6 months of age and when SCBR receives proof your deposit will be refunded.

Jackson he's sure to make your home a happy one
