9/12/03 Hudson has been adopted!

9/10/03 - Hudson is pending adoption!

7/18/03 - Hudson has been doing wonderfully over the last several weeks.  He
is fine with the cats & is doing well with my dogs too.  Hudson is
housebroken & crate trained & actually LOVES his crate!  It is the funniest
thing to see Hudson's super fast routine when he knows it's breakfast &
dinner time during the work week: he runs out of his crate, drinks some
water, goes out to do his business, races back in for another quick drink &
as soon as he sees me back in the house, he flies in his crate at 100 miles
an hour, turns around & sticks his head out, licking his lips with the
CUTEST, desperate looking face as if he is dying of hunger & he thinks I may
just not feed him!  He gets so happy & eats everything he is given, no
crumbs here to clean up. :)

Hudson has come out of his shell a lot since he has been here.  He now acts
like any dog & gets excited, twirls around when he is in play mode & likes
to show off his ball of the moment he is playing with.  He has the goofiest
face, I swear his nose is crooked a little as he just looks so cute when he
looks at you.  He is quiet most of the time, but when he is ready to come in
he will look at me & bark as if to say "come on, don't you see I finished
what I came out here to do?!".  He also barks when you have one of his balls
he is playing with if you don't throw it fast enough for him.

A few weeks ago I took Hudson to another foster family's house where there
were about 10 other big dogs & lots of people in the backyard for a dog
training class.  Hudson did great meeting a couple of the dogs & some people
too, he had no issues at all.  I did try to put a Gentle Leader collar on
him while we were there as he is just so strong & pulls a lot on the leash.
He really fought it & got worked up a lot so I only tried for a few minutes
& gave him a break.  I thought the newness of being at this home with all
these people & dogs was enough for one afternoon.  I think like most dogs
Hudson would come to get use to the Gentle Leader & really will benefit from
it, I will try to work more with him on one soon.

Hudson may not have the standard boxer-look being he is a mix, but he is a
good boy & just looking for a home to love him.  Get your applications in
now as Hudson is ready to jump in your car & take that ride home!

6/20/03 - Hudson was neutered & brought up to date on all his shots today, along with
microchipped, & he is heartworm negative.  Dr. Matt & one of the vet techs said they thought
Hudson resembled a boxer/mastiff mix--kind of what I originally thought too. Poor guy was
all drugged up tonight when I met Helen who picked Hudson up at the vet & met me after
work.  Funny thing is even though Hudson could barely move out of my seat in the car as he
was so groggy, as soon as I opened the car windows & took off, he found the strength to
stand up & stick the tip of his nose out the window!  Hudson LIVES to sniff the air as you
drive!  He is so cute about it too & just looks as content as can be.  He rides really well in the
car & is not a jumpy driving buddy.  Give him a little fresh outside air to sniff & you have an
awesome co-pilot.

Another one of Hudson's FAVORITE things is the Jolly Ball.  He will go nuts playing with
these virtually indestructible balls that are oversized so the dogs can squish them & bite them
without puncturing them.  Hudson will shake them in his mouth like a crazy boy & bite them &
pounce & chase them.  He doesn't really bring it to me to throw for him yet, but he is great if
you just tell him "No" & he will back off the ball, sit down & let you get it.  Only thing is you
had better let him have it soon as after he backs up & sits down, he immediately starts
barking at you playfully (& LOUDLY!-lol) to give it back to him!  Then he will start all over
with playing with the different sized Jolly balls.

Hudson is crate trained, goes right in when you show him it's time.  He has started giving me
kisses every so often & when I am sitting on the couch & call him he will come over to me to
get in between my legs, turns around so his back is up against me & sits down to be petted &
kissed.  He is a big, sweet guy & I will get him more exposed to the dogs & cats & others
soon now that he is updated on his shots & neutered.   Watch for more updates soon on
Hudson!

6/16/03 - Hudson arrived yesterday thanks to his transport team of Meredith, Gizelle's
Husband, Sarah & Joe.  Hudson was a stray to a shelter we work with & he is a really sweet,
big boxer mix with a docked tail & natural ears who is about 3 years old. Mixed with what is
a question for Hudson's doggie Mom to answer & unfortunately she is just not in Hudson's life
anymore to ask.  Don't hold Hudson's lack of family background against him though as he is
just a big, sweet, loveable, playful boy!

Hudson had kisses for me last night when he got in the car & then laid right down in the back
seat after a few minutes of saying "hi" to me.  He rode well, just a few times needed to be
reminded that I was driving & not time for loving up to me.  He listened very well & didn't
give me a hard time at all.  Hudson came in the house & immediately met my 3 cats.  He did
good yesterday & didn't care to bother with them, but I will continue to test him with the cats
to make sure he can live with them.  Hudson today showed me he knows "sit" & "speak", we
didn't get much further than that as he found the tennis balls & that won his attention over for
the next half hour.

Hudson will be making a trip to the vet for his neuter, shots & heartworm test on this Friday.
In the meantime I will try to get some better pictures & to evaluate him some more soon.
