10/3/03 - UPDATED - Harley has adjusted fabulously to my home! We started obedience
training right away and he has already mastered several commands.  He is the teachers favorite
because she loves the facial expressions Harley makes. He has met all of my family and friends
and demands attention from each of them! Harley has also met all of my neighbors and even
left a few deposits in front of their homes (they didn't mind at all and I always pick up any
mess).
Harley loves his rope tug toy and his large squeeky ball and carrries them out of his crate in the
morning and into his play room.
Harley has had his first trip to the groomers and also to the vet.  He has a little blood in his
stool and was given a prescription for antibacterial infections. It seems to have cleared up, but
he may need a follow-up appointment because it isn't completely gone. The doctor says not to
worry, it could be something he ate or something he picked up from abother animal.
He is quite the happy pup.  I get welcome home leaps several feet off of the floor and plenty of
licks and boxing paws!

9/1/03 Harley has been adopted!

8/22/03 Harley is pending adoption!

8/12/03 I am so pleased that Harley is becoming more outgoing with strangers. 3 or 4 days
ago I took him to a neighbor's house to give him a chance to meet strangers. He was shy and
allowed them to pet him a little reluctantly. A day later I took him to another neighbor and
Harley was even more shy. Today, I took him to the first neighbor and he responded in a quite
friendly manner not only to the ladies he was so tentative with the other day but responded
well to two older men besides. Since my older dogs don't play alot it is fun to watch Harley
play, tossing up objects and chasing them as a cat with a mouse. He likes balls, anything he
thinks is a toy. He does get into things--I had the heartworm medicine out to give my two dogs
and two fosters; he ate three of them. The vet said not to worry--so he is well protected, but
unfortunately not for 3 mos. Harley will make a great addition to an active owner, he does
need lots of exercise.

8/7/03 I see many positive changes in Harley in the last ten days. He gets along better with all
the dogs except Roxie. although they don't really play together. He's beginning to play
enthusiastically on his own,--with a pea pod which he plays with as a cat plays with a mouse,
tossing it up in the air, pouncing on it, and again today with the tug of war rope. He jumps in
the air with a half twist when he greets me, or out in the yard. he gets into things like any pup
and helped himself to 3 heart worm pills I had brought to give the dogs--the vet said not to
worry, there was considerable margin for error.I give all the dogs treats after their last outing at
night and now he is lining up with them and sitting down in expectation. He is fearful of
strangers, but if approached quietly will accept them.  He needs a loving home--he has much
love to give. He needs a place where he can work off some of that pent up energy. He is very
accepting of his crate, and because of his problems with Roxie and his getting into everything
he is always crated when I am not in the house. He is very delightful and it is great to watch
him in action--he is so enthusiastic. He will make a wonderful pet in a family that understands
his need for excercise, his need for structure. He absolutely needs obedience training and
preferably should follow it with agility training He gets his stitches out tomorrow.

7/20/03   Harley did something new--he ran around the yard like crazy when I entered and
walked thru the dog yard. He really seemed delighted to see me again--after 15 whole minutes
I do think there's progress! Harley also chased and retieved a ball. He seemed to enjoy it.
Before tonite he just didn't seem to have a clue. He's still trying to mount the boys--I think he's
afraid of Roxie. It's improving bit by bit

7/19/03 Harley arrived Thusday on the long transport form the NJ area. He is a beautiful fawn
boy with a docked tail and natural ears. The first day he was here he constantly tried to jump
on me  and on the other dogs, earning instant dislike on the part of Roxie and Rusty; Rocket
was more tolerant. He jumps on me much less, but continues to annoy the dogs. He doesn't
seem to have any resources to amuse himself--either in his crate or outside and clings to me
like velcro. He barks a lot when in his crate or when shut outside. When I am with him or
close to him he doesn't bark. I guess he needs to learn to trust me--I'm working on that!
