UPDATED – 8/15/04 Ginger is awesome. She is definitely in her forever home. She
is the sweetest dog and loves to be part of the family. We are so happy that we are
thinking about getting a forever friend for Ginger to romp with in the back yard.
UPDATED - 09/04/03 Hello everyone. Here is Ginger's one month update. She is a
wonderful puppy full of that "boxer energy." I will begin with what a sweet girl she is.
She loves to give kisses and get lots of praise. We took her to the vet the first week and
they agree that she was approximately 8 months old. Although she was skinny, they
thought she was very healthy. We will be bringing her in at the end of October to get
weighed again. We hope she will break the 50lb mark. She is eating well and looks like
she has already put some weight on. Now on to her behavior. She is sweet,
mischevious, and loves to chew everything. She looks for anything to become her next
toy. We are very happy she is crate trained and is absolutely wonderful in it. If she
wasn't my house would be destroyed. She doesn't do anything if she's with you and you
are giving her attention, but left alone she will find anything to chew on. We decided to
get her into obedience training right away so not to develop any more bad habits. Ginger
is learning good manners everyday(some days are longer than others). Today she had
her third lesson. Ginger does very well with heel then sit. She now will sit and go down
with a voice command. We are working on down to sit and most importantly stay. I
think that everyone should go through one on one training. After the first week, I asked
myself what have I gotten myself and my family into. I had to make sure she wouldn't
hurt the children in any way with her jumping and puppy craziness. The difference in just
three lessons is remarkable. Also, I think training is so important because boxers are big
strong dogs. Ginger is so willing to please. She wants to do the right thing. She has
learned so much so quickly, I am so excited about the next few weeks and what other
commands she will master. I am so happy with her. I know I made the right decision.
Thank you Amy

8/6/03 Hi All! Ginger is doing just great! She is still getting along and carrying on with the
pugs... Ginger loves to romp and play. She enjoys running back and forth across the
back yard when she wants to burn up some energy, then she will lie down and cuddle
with me on the couch because she has exhausted herself... Ginger is going to make
someone a great companion. If you like to jog or hike this dog would just love to come
with you! Ginger is beginning to wonder why no one has yet come for her. She would
love a permanant forever home where she can feel like she has some roots.
7/29/03- Ginger is a well adjusted young girl. I have never met a dog as eager to learn
new things as this girl is. We have been working with her to learn 'give paw' and to learn
how to play ball by retrieving. She is comfortable in her surroundings here and LOVES
to meet new people that come over to visit. She is an all around well socialized and well
mannered beauty. She has had a couple of accidents in the house, but she is quickly
learning that she can not do that inside. Ginger is alot more adjusted to the crate now and
never really gives us a hard time going inside. She still loves to get a piece of cheese as a
reward for going in tho :) She has gained 10 lbs since I have had her and she had a vet
visit this past weekend that went very well. The vet says she is 'fit as a fiddle' and one of
the most beautiful young boxers he has laid eyes on in quite sometime. The compliments
do not stop there however... people that come over are CONSTANTLY saying how
appealing Ginger looks... even if they are saying between the kisses that Ginger loves to
adorn everyone's face with :) I am in hopes that Ginger will soon find her adoptive
parents so she can begin her new life and learn just what it is to have a forever home.
Ginger would probably LOVE to have other canine brothers or sisters in her new home
as she just enjoys her play time with the two pugs here soooo much!
7/22/03 Well, Ginger has been here all of three days and she has completely made
herself a part of the family here. My dogs get along with her so well its scary because she
is three times thier size. Little 5 month old pug Darla treats Ginger as tho she is just
another 5 month old pug... Ginger seems to think she is one too because when they play
chase and Darla jumps onto my lap on the couch, Ginger follows suit... so what if I get a
slipped disc :) Anyways, Ginger trains very easily... we are on day 3 and she already has
the 'down' command in addition to 'sit' which she already had. She sleeps well in her
crate, tho she is hesitant to get into it still... a nice piece of cheese does it everytime :)
Someone is going to make out nicely when they adopt this baby! Ginger will be going to
the vet for a standard check up on Saturday, but I'm sure all will be well!
7/20/03 Ginger arrived today, but she was nameless... I thought she looked so much like
gingerbread that it had to be her name! Ginger was tied to a tree by the river and left to
starve to death. She came to me from a shelter in central New York. When I laid eyes
on this beautiful girl I was in foster parent heaven! This is my first foster and I have to say
that if all dogs were like this, I am in for a treat. Ginger is very playful and boy does she
love to give kisses! So far she has gotten along with my two pugs, and she likes to jump
over them as if they are hurdles :) She has gone to the bathroom outside already and has
not had any accidents as of yet. The paperwork says she is 6 months old and I believe it
because she is full of energy (the good kind tho!). She does appear to be a bit
underweight at this time, but I will change that very quickly... if she hangs out with the
two pugs (with the way they eat!) long enough she will put some weight on in no time!
This gorgeous beauty of a dog has natural ears and a natural tail (that wags constantly)
and she even knows some commands already! Ginger is likely to be a loving companion
to someone.
