UPDATED 7/6/04 - Cosmo is a very welcome addition to our home. My 3 1/2 year twin
daughters love him and he loves them, he has yet to learn any manners so he is a bit rough
with them. But we are all adjusting, including my 4 year old male boxer, Cowboy. Cosmo
has some intestinal issues that aren't resolving themselves and that seems to be the only
downside to having him in our home. Otherwise, he is a very loving, sweet, little boy. He
is a bit on the lazy side, but we are hoping to get him up to speed soon (might be from not
feeling well, we don't know him well enough to know if this is the reason). We have put
Cosmo on a waiting list for a local obediance training class. HE DESPERATELY
NEEDS THIS, he has no manners what so ever, which is hard for us to adjust to since
Cowboy went thru his training with flying colors and responds to all his commands
wonderfully. So hopefully soon Cosmo will also become the gentleman we want him to
be. My most pressing task is to get him to walk on the leash, I'm not really doing well
carrying him everywhere (he's getting heavy, 35 pounds as of last week) and dragging him
is awful, it's like he has a set of breaks and puts them on instantly the second you
encourage him to move forward! So tomorrow that is top priority, a little bit of hot dog
and i'm sure he'll be prancing by my side. LOL. Well it is almost time to settle down for
the night, so good bye from Cosmo, I think he likes it here, the nub is always wagging.
11/17/03 Cosmo is still waiting patiently for the phone to ring. He knows soon
his new family will be calling to make arrangements to pick him up. You don't know what
your missing, there's a great little boxer here waiting to show you his bunny rabbit
bouncing and his night time cuddles. This
boy has more energy than my 3 1/2 year old boxer. My husband was saying yesterday
that he can't be 7 he has to much spunk! We don't really know for shure he is 7 he may be
a little younger, I take it with a grain of
salt. Your as old as you feel, right? Cosmo could play with soft squishy toys all day long,
he loves to
play tug too. He carries around his toy like it was his prize possesion. He may not have
had toys in the past but he's making up for it now.
He is doing so much better on the food issue, when he is done eating he knows better not
to go to the other dogs bowls until they have finished eating. He will lick their empty bowls,
thats fine with me. He will
follow you around if you have food, I give him a little bit and he enjoys it. Cosmo is ready
with his bags packed, so if your interested fill out an application. What a wondeful xmas
present it would be for Cosmo, a
new family.
10-28-03 Cosmo has been here for almost a month now and he is really fitting in as part of
the family. It feels good to give this kind, gentle dog a loving home until his forever home is
found.
He is still very much the playful boxer, he's actually more active than I could have
imagined. He races in the backyard with my other boxer and they bounce around each
other, it's quite funny to watch. If you don't mind a dog that snores then Cosmo might be
your boy. When he is snoring he is really enjoying his sleep, nothing can wake him. He puts
in a very active day and in the evening it's major rest time.
He continues to be a great car rider, let him sit next to the window and he's all set.
We brought him to his first Boxer Awareness Day and he did great. He liked getting
attention from the children and seeing the other dogs that came in.
Cosmo can be a little food aggresive, as long as you don't let him wonder off to another
dogs bowl then you will be fine. He likes to help himself. He loves food so much he will do
whatever it takes to get himself some more!
He's one fantastic dog, get your application in now!
10-13-03 Things are going beautifully here with Cosmo. He continues to show us his
wonderful personality. He is playing more and more each day with my other boxer. The
real boxer play, they roll all over the floor and wrestle and mouth each other. He probably
never did that before but she is bringing it out of him!
He enjoys the car rides to drive the kids to school, he's very content to sit in the back seat
sniffing the air out the window.
He is a great eater, sometimes to great. He tries to eat the other dogs food when he is
done his. I have to pry him away or else my other babies wouldn't get to eat. I make him
sit until everyone is done and he is fine with that.
Something thats a breath of fresh air with him is whenever someone comes into my home
he is not jumping all over them. He doesn't bark in their face either. He knows his place
and he will go over to check them out when the dust has settled.
The way I explain him to people I know is, "he's really no trouble".
He wants to be loved, fed and entertained every ounce and a while.
How difficult is that?!
He truely is a good boy just waiting for you!
10-7-03 I would like to introduce you to a new guest we have here at the Boxer Beach
House. His name is Cosmo and he comes to us from a shelter in New Jersey. He has a
very nice smooth brindle coat with some white around his neck and all four paws. We
don't know his exact age but we have made a good estimate of about five years old.
Cosmo is a mellow fellow but when the ruckus starts in the house he's right over there
trying to join in. He gets along very well with all four of my dogs.
We had a few accidents the first day he arrived, it's very difficult to adjust to new
surroundings and nerves can do that to a dog. He has been great about sitting at the patio
door to let me know when he has to go, or if it is open he gets up, goes outside and then
comes back in.
I think he is very grateful to have a home to feel comfortable in and given much needed
attention. He looks straight into our eyes with such expression, he's an old soul.
This boy would be forever thankful for a loving family like yours.
