UPDATE 1/6/08 - Well, I'm very late in posting this update. But a lot has been going on
in our lives. This year Buddy has been great despite going through a lot of changes.
We had a baby and Buddy absolutely loves him. Buddy is so good with him. Buddy lets
the baby crawl all over him and pull and bite him. And good old Buddy just smothers him
with kisses.
Also, Buddy has lost his four legged sister recently. She suddenly passed away and
Buddy has been beside himself ever since. He really loved Jade, eventhough she wasn't
as fond of him. She bossed him around and he did exactly as she told him. She was a
mere 12 pounds to his 75, but she was top dog. He was good to her and he really misses
her. However, he has taken on some of her less desirable traits. He now constantly begs
for people food and at very close range, jsut like she did (he didn't do this before). He
sleeps on the bed where she used to. He used to be afraid to get on the bed out of fear
of stepping on her, but now he doesn't even think twice before jumping up.
We have also recently moved to a new house. He was very scared of the whole process,
which wasn't a surprise since he is scared of his own shadow. But he is slowly getting
used to the new place. I think he would have been better if Jade was around to protect
him and build his confidence.
So maybe some day we will be ready to get him another four legged sibling, but until then
he is enjoying all of our love. Well, thanks again SCBR for giving Buddy his second
chance with us. He is the best dog you could ever hope to have and we appreciate every
day we have with him.

UPDATE 11/1/06 -  Hi everyone, it's me Buddy. I have been with my family for three
years now. I can't believe it's only been three years! I feel like I've been here forever. I
love them very much and they love me very much. Well, my sister doesn't like me too
much, but I think it is just an act. She bosses me around and I am a good brother and I
listen to her. She is a lot smaller than I am, she's 12 pounds and I'm 65 pounds. So when
we go to the dog park I protect her from all the big dogs. I like to protect all the little
dogs. Anyway, last night was great! Lots of people came over to wish me happy
adoption anniversary. They kept coming to the door and my mom and dad gave them
candy and then they left. I would have liked to play a little more with them, but
apparently they had other things to do. At least they stopped by though. Oh yeah, my
mom and dad's friends bring over babies some times. I love that! I just can't stop kissing
them! They are just too cute! My mom says I have OCLD obsessive compulsive licking
disorder. That's a good thing, right? Well, just wanted to let everyone know that I am
very loved and very happy in my forever home. I am so glad that SCBR helped me find
my parents. And just wanted all the dogs up for adoption to know that their parents will
find them soon. Talk to you next year!
Kisses, Buddy

UPDATE 10/31/05 - Well, it's been two years since we adopted Buddy. I can't imagine
life without him. He is the best dog ever. He continues to be very obedient. He is a big
love bug. He loves cuddling, hugging, and kissing all day, every day. He is nice to all
dogs. But he still remains afraid of people and things, especially cars. He loves going for
rides in the car with us. He loves just being with us.
We went to a friends house a few weekends ago. There were 3 labs, a cockapoo, our
min pin and Buddy. He loved running and playing with the labs. He was the only boy out
of the six dogs. One lab loves him and constantly pecks at his neck. He tolerates her
pretty well. But he fell in love with the lab that was playing hard to get. He protects the
cockapoo and min pin from all the other dogs. Even when we go to the dog park he
protects the two little ones. (Not that the min pin needs protecting. She will beat up any
dog that comes near her.) Actually, he is such a gentleman he will protect any dog that is
getting bullied. But he won't fight. He just gets in between the dog getting bullied and the
one bullying.
He is such a wimp, but that is what makes him the biggest mush. We love him dearly and
are so grateful to have been lucky enough to give him his forever home.

UPDATE 11/2/04 - Well, Buddy is a dream come true. We
have had him a year now and he is the perfect dog. He just turned two on
Oct. 15th. But he is not a hyper dog. He is more like an old soul. Which is
perfect for our four year old miniature doberman pinscher. The two are the
laziest dogs ever! Our min pin is finally starting to except him. They even
played pull with a toy the other day without human help for the little one.
Buddy was so good just holding the toy while Jade pulled as hard as she
could to try and get it. She is pretty mean to him sometimes but he just
lets her do what she feels she needs to do. He lets her stand under him as
he eats and whatever falls on the floor is hers. He is very obedient and
walks well on the leash for the most part. The only time he pulls and won't
listen to commands is when a car is coming. He is so afraid of cars, maybe
that is what happened to his paw before he came into rescue. However, his
paw has been doing great. He used to limp on it after just a few minutes of
running and playing and would whine and start to lick it and then lay down
to rest. But now he limps a little after a lot of play, but doesn't let it
stop him. We have started taking them to a dog park once every weekend. At
first he wouldn't play with the other dogs and would constantly search
around to make sure he knew where we were, but each week he plays more and
more with the other dogs and lets us out of his sight. Buddy did great with
the trick or treaters coming to the door. The two of them would bark when
they rang the door bell, but then he would sit like a good boy away from the
door and just watch me give out the candy. Of course, he was probably too
afraid of all the kids to get close to the door. He is a big wimp. He is a
great cuddler, kisser, and hugger. What a love bug he is! He loves to sit on
top of us like he is the lap dog. He hogs the bed at night. But how can you
refuse such a cute smooshy face with a tongue that hangs out all the time?
We are so happy we found SCBR and our baby boy!

10/31/03 - Buddy has been adopted!

10/25/03 Buddy is pending adoption.

10/23/03 Good news! Buddy leg is an old break...probably from when he was a small
pup, and the orthopedist is NOT recommending surgery for him. Sometimes messing
around with bones and joints makes things much worse. He will be prescribed some
medications to manage pain if he "overdoes" it. He is ready to go home now; some family
is going to be extremely lucky to be able to include this loving little boy in their family.
Buddy is a real cuddler, he loves hug and kisses and to be right near you, He is pretty
good about not jumping on people, especially for young guy! He will sit nicely at the door
or when he wants something.  He is very sweet!

10/22/03 Buddy went to the vets today for his neuter and to have his leg x-rayed. I will
get to meet with the orthopedist tomorrow to see what he thinks!

10/18/03 Buddy made his way to Maine today to the Last Resort. Buddy is an adorable
fawn boxer boy with natural ears and a docked tail.  What a sweetheart! He is a cutie
and is really quite calm for his age! More news to come on this guy after he visits the vet!
